Stade de Reims have paid tribute to Real Madrid to mark the 60th anniversary of the 1959 European Cup final between the two teams. The French outfit’s third kit for this season commemorates the historic encounter, in which the madridistas run out 2-0 winners. According to a statement released by Stade de Reims, ‘the club dedicates its third kit to its biggest rival and eternal friend, Real Madrid’.
The team are set to wear the kit for the first time in their league match against Stade Rennais FC on Sunday 28 October. The strip is white with mauve tones in honor of Real Madrid, whilst the bottom of one of the shirt’s side panels features small lettering which offers a remember of the city that hosted the aforementioned showpiece: ‘Stuttgart 1959’.
