Who were the six heroes of the victory over PSG?

16 Feb 2018

Real Madrid needed a result against Paris Saint-Germain to save their season and they got it, thanks to some of the usual suspects and thanks to some unlikely heroes too.

From Cristiano Ronaldo to Nacho, these are the six main stars of the 3-1 victory.

Cristiano Ronaldo: He was decisive

When everything is at stake, Cristiano Ronaldo delivers.

With his brace, he was the main star of the evening and he now has 11 goals in this season’s Champions League, proving he is the man for the big occasions.

Marcelo: Unstoppable

It looked like Marcelo might have to stop, when he suffered an early injury, but he was able to continue and every time he advanced down the left flank he caused havoc in the PSG defence.

He capped his performance off with a goal, one which puts Real Madrid firmly in the driving seat.

Marco Asensio: The game changer

The youngster was brought on with just over 10 minutes left and he helped to change the match with his speed, his ability to evade defenders and his link-up play.

Zinedine Zidane: Magisterial

He took some brave decisions, most notable leaving out Gareth Bale in place of Isco, but they paid off.

When the team then started struggling in the second half, he made some astute substitutions and helped push Los Blancos towards glory.

Keylor Navas: The saviour

It should not be forgotten that Keylor Navas made a vitally important save when the scores were level at 1-1.

Had Kylian Mbappe scored with that attempt then the outcome could have been so different, but the Costa Rican saved the day.

Nacho: Effective

He had to play at right-back against Neymar due to Dani Carvajal’s suspension, but Nacho delivered, as he always does.

It was a tough test, but he passed it.
