Sergio Ramos is a documentary center-back

23 Sep 2019

The second series of Sergio Ramos‘ documentary could begin with Sunday night’s match at Sevilla. There, Real Madrid won to put an end to a week of crisis and they did so with their captain leading the way. His heart beats strong.

It’s no coincidence that Real Madrid struggled at the back at PSG when Ramos was missing through suspension. He then returned and Real Madrid were solid. He can play poorly sometimes, but you always notice him, and he wasn’t bad in this game as he was tremendous. His presence helped Raphael Varane improve too. Ramos fights to the end and this is Real Madrid.

It’s no coincidence that Real Madrid have lost their past five Champions League matches in which Ramos wasn’t playing. He had a big night, the kind of night that articles are written about and that documentary series are put together for. If you want to win, you’ll be closer if Ramos is on the scene.

The Sevilla fans haven’t forgiven Ramos, but they’d prefer not to be playing against him because they know him. If Real Madrid go all the way, then they’re doing so with their captain. As much as the No.7 is revered at the Santiago Bernabeu, so too is the No.4 shirt.
