Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) president Luis Rubiales issued an apology after channel Movistar failed to show a controversial incident in the last minutes of Real Madrid’s Supercopa de Espana semi-final defeat to Athletic Club.
While the VAR was reviewing the incident for handball in the box, after Unai Nunez‘s clearance of the ball after attempting a diving header, fans were shown a later play involving a Sergio Ramos aerial duel.
“[The play] should have been shown and I apologize for it,” Rubiales told Deportes Cuatro after the duel.
“It is silly to hide it. It is a production failure.”
After the match, Movistar showed all the available shots from the controversial incident, one which was reviewed for more than one minute by VAR.
