Ajax’s captain and star center back Matthijs de Ligt is being chased by the biggest sides in Europe. FC Barcelona, PSG and Juventus are the frontrunners but he’s currently on holiday weighing up the various offers on the table.
Now, according to Radio Monte Carlo Sports, it appears Real Madrid have joined the battle for de Ligt’s signature. Madrid, after speaking with Mino Raiola over a move for Paul Pogba, decided to make a move after discovering the defender was unsure which club he would choose.
The same sources claim Madrid sent word to de Ligt to see whether they are a club he would be interested in joining this summer.
Every option remains open
With Real Madrid now on the scene it feels like the battle for de Ligt will only intensify. Right now, the decision remains open for all parties until he returns from his holiday.
PSG are desperate to make him one of the new faces of the team whilst FC Barcelona want to reunite him with his best friend de Jong at the Camp Nou. Juventus are also in the running but have failed to reach an agreement with Raiola so far.
