Reinier Jesus is very close to becoming a Borussia Dortmund player, with negotiations between Real Madrid and the German club at an advanced stage.
The doubt is whether the 18-year-old will go on loan for one or two years, with the latter being the route Achraf Hakimi took as he spent the 2018/19 and 2019/20 campaigns at Signal Iduna Park, thriving in the process, before departing for Inter on a permanent basis this summer.
Real Madrid have opted for Dortmund as the ideal place for Reinier to continue to develop due to the good relationship they have with the club and because they believe the Brazilian will have less pressure playing in Germany than in Spain, despite the fact Reinier himself wanted to play in LaLiga Santander.
Another reason why Reinier was keen on staying in Spain is because he wanted to start taking the steps towards getting a Spanish passport, but he will not be able to begin that process until he returns to Real Madrid.
In addition to Dortmund, Real Madrid received offers from Bayer Leverkusen, Real Valladolid and Real Sociedad for former Flamengo midfielder, who cost Los Blancos 30 million euros in January.
Now, Reinier is set to join a Bundesliga team that plays in the Champions League on a temporary basis as he looks to further adapt to European football.
