Sergio Reguilón is set to join Sevilla on loan for the new season. The 22-year-old left back will sign a one-year contract with the Andalucians, who will not have the option to buy him outright at the end of the loan deal. Reguilón was high on Julen Lopetegui‘s list of priorities and the deal will be made official by the end of the week – mostly likely before Thursday when Sevilla begin their pre-season.
Reguilón was hardly used when Lopetegui was in charge at Real Madrid but it was the Basque coach who pushed to bring him up into the first team squad for which the player remains extremely grateful. The defender feels that joining Sevilla presents him with a great opportunity to continue gaining experience in the top flight which will give him more status when he returns to Real Madrid next summer when he will be competing for a place with Marcelo and Ferland Mendy.
