Ahead of the World Cup, those in power at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu were concerned that the club’s pre-season would be disrupted by absences, however the team will be at near full strength for the UEFA Super Cup.

Atletico Madrid are the opponents on August 15 and Julen Lopetegui can expect to count on 10 of the 15 Real Madrid representatives in Russia as they’ve already been eliminated with their respective national sides.

Spain’s penalty shoot-out elimination at the hands of hosts Russia was damaging for the nation, yet their contingent of Los Blancos players will be back in the country by Monday.

Before this, Toni Kroos, Keylor Navas, Cristiano Ronaldo and Achraf Hakimi had all left the tournament before they’d hoped.

This aforementioned group will be in place for the beginning of pre-season on July 16, although there may be a slightly extended holiday for a couple of players, especially with Ronaldo’s fitness needing to be carefully managed.

There are five men still playing in Russia with Casemiro, Marcelo, Luka Modric, Mateo Kovacic and Raphael Varane all having further matches to play.
