Real Madrid will complain to the federation about the penalty that wasn’t awarded

07 Jan 2019

Management at Real Madrid have been left furious by what happened at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday evening, but most of their frustration is aimed at the officiating, particularly the decision not to award a penalty to Vinicius Junior.

The Brazilian was brought to ground by Real Sociedad goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli, though a penalty was not awarded and VAR was not consulted.

Those upstairs at Madrid could not hide their anger after the game and they do not understand how a spot kick was not awarded.

As such, the club will send a formal complaint to the federation as they believe there can be no reason for what happened.

Madrid feel the result was directly influenced by the failure to award a penalty and also believe they were treated unfairly with other decisions.

Without completely turning their backs on the issues at the club itself, those in positions of power believe the referee and VAR official were the reasons for their defeat to La Real.
