Real Madrid: “We’ll respond to Piqué on the pitch, in El Clásico”

29 Mar 2017

Real Madrid have decided not to respond to Gerard Piqué for the comments he made following Spain’s friendly meeting with France in Saint-Denis last night.

The Barcelona defender was asked by Spanish radio about his opinion on the four-match ban which FIFA handed Leo Messi with the Argentina national team and also the ongoing legal cases involving Messi and Neymar, the former having been convicted of tax fraud (currently awaiting appeal), and the latter for alleged fraud in respect of his transfer to Barça.

Real Madrid’s legal department have studied Piqué’s declarations but have decided against making a statement on the legal ins and outs of any possible slander, and nor will the club be taking legal action.

However, the club has made their stance quite clear with the message: “The best reply will be in the Clásico on 23 April because Real Madrid always do our talking out on the field of play”.
