Real Madrid‘s season came to an end after they were knocked out of the Champions League away to Manchester City.
The players were assembled for a talk in which general manager Jose Angel Sanchez addressed the squad.
During his talk, he informed them that the club were generally happy with their performance in 2019/20 despite the disappointing end in Europe.
He also took the chance to confirm Alphonse Areola‘s departure, explaining that the club weren’t in the financial position to bring him in on a permanent basis.
Following on from that, it was explained that there would be no signings this summer because of the financial impact of COVID-19.
If arrivals are to come, they’ll be in the form of loaned players returning, such as Martin Odegaard, Dani Ceballos and Andriy Lunin.
Florentino Perez had already expressed his belief that ‘big signings’ should wait due to the difficult situation the club and the wider world find themselves in.
The talk ended with a reminder that the players should be responsible during their holidays, which are due to end on August 30.
