Real Madrid are preparing a major improvement for their youth academies with an innovative project, Proyecto Cantera Siglo XXI, and club legend Raul is hoping to be the man in charge.
The Spanish giants are determined to renew the structure of La Fabrica and give it a boost with new names and the possibility of having Raul as the head coach.
The club are working on finding two very specific professionals to join the new project.
One must be a physical fitness specialist, who will coordinate the work of all the teams, and the second a specialist in sports, who will act as an anchor between the trainers of the youth academies.
The management of the project is set to be overseen by Alberto Morinigo.
In terms of the coaching position, Real Madrid want to give a new spark to the academy, and Raul seems to be the perfect man for the job.
The former captain is taking advantage of this season to soak up all the operations of the youth academies and the club, both on the field with homegrown players as well as in meetings and trips with the first team and the U19A sides.
His chances of taking on the role are increasing day by day, but it’s still not clear that he will occupy the position in July, as he has yet to earn the required coaching license.
Guti, the coach of Real Madrid’s U19A team, continues to work hard, as he looks for a future promotion to Castilla.
Raul is still closely linked to Roberto Olabe, the former sports director of Real Sociedad.
The latter will be hoping to accompany the legendary footballer in this new project.
