Real Madrid named as the world’s biggest club by France Football

12 Feb 2019

Real Madrid have been named as the world’s biggest football club by France Football.

In their February edition, the publication listed their top 30 clubs around the world and Spain’s top two found themselves leading the way.

The editorial team took into account the analysis of players, television audiences, social media following, average attendances, income, expenses, market value of the team and the historical importance of the club – the latter being something the magazine themselves acknowledged as being subjective.

Eighty-five clubs were looked at under these criteria, with the final list standing at 30.

Real Madrid edged Barcelona to first, with some distance then splitting them from Manchester United in third.

Five Premier League sides appear in the top 10 compared to two from Spain, one from Germany and one from Italy, while Paris Saint-Germain were the highest placed French side in seventh.

  1. Real Madrid 184 points
