Real Madrid have announced that beloved club icon Agustin Herrerin has passed away.
Herrerin was delegate for the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu and worked at the club for more than 50 years.
He appeared on the pitch at the Bernabeu last October to a warm ovation from the crowd and received a loving greeting from the playing squad.
Sergio Ramos and Marcelo gifted him a shirt and a replica of his Bernabeu.
“Real Madrid want to offer their most heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of our historic pitch delegate, as well as the town of Mazarron, where Agustin Herrerin inspired a Real Madrid Foundation football school for the integration of children in risk of social exclusion,” read the club statement.
“His professional career has been an example of the values of our club of which he dedicated his life to. Considered as an institution of Real Madrid, he’s always had the love and recognition of all of our presidents and board members as well as the players and all the supporters.”
