The Real Madrid Foundation has signed a collaboration agreement with Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) for the development of ten socio-sporting football schools in Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Uzbekistan. Over the next three years, 4,500 children between the ages of 6 and 17 are expected to benefit. The presentation, held in Dubai, was attended by Emilio Butragueño, Director of Institutional Relations at Real Madrid; Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE National Olympic Committee; and Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet and Future Affairs and Secretary-General of MBRGI.
In this first phase, socio-sports schools will be set up in the cities of Tangier and Ben Guerir in Morocco, Alexandria in Egypt and Fuheis in Jordan, together with a joint project between Al Baqa’a and the Irbid refugee camps. In the second phase there will be two schools in Egypt, two in Uzbekistan and one in the Jordanian-Emirati refugee camp Mrajeeb Al Fhood, supervised by the Emirates Red Crescent.
