Thibaut Courtois is set to be Real Madrid‘s first choice goalkeeper for the 2019/20 season, with Andriy Lunin being his backup between the sticks.
Zinedine Zidane is eager to make his decision known before the end of the season and inform Keylor Navas, who will subsequently decide whether he will remain at the club or seek another destination.
Lunin will return this summer from Leganes, where he has not had as many opportunities as Madrid had expected when they loaned him out last August.
Although both the board and the coaching staff had higher expectations from the Belgian, his poor performances are seen as being part of Madrid‘s overall decline this season.
The club are not fond of all the media controversy surrounding Courtois, but they are eager to put their confidence in the winner of The Best FIFA Goalkeeper award from the 2017/2018 season.
