Real Madrid are staying loyal to their philosophy of looking for young talent from all corners of the globe to come in as possible stars of the future.
The doors into the first team are strictly shut this January, but the departure gates may well swing open to free Brahim Diaz and Mariano Diaz.
In their search for young talent, Los Blancos have turned their attention to Lille.
The French club have become specialists in selling, accumulating 150 million euros through Nicolas Pepe, Thiago Mendes, Rafael Leao, Anwar El Ghazi and Youssouf Kone.
Now, Lille are still fourth in Ligue 1 and have more headline makers in Boubakary Soumare, Victor Osimhen and Gabriel dos Santos Magalhaes, who is known simply as ‘Gabriel‘.
In the spotlight
Real Madrid have set their focus on Lille, particularly on the three aforementioned players.
Soumare is formerly of Paris Saint-Germain and he moved to Lille in 2017. The midfielder knew his chances were limited in Paris, so he took the chance to leave.
This season he’s become key. The 20-year-old played 17 games in Ligue 1 this season and six in the Champions League.
He’s contracted until June 30, 2022 and Valencia were keen on him last summer, but he wanted to continue his growth in northern France.
Casemiro is the only pure defensive-minded midfielder that Zinedine Zidane has at the moment and finding a natural replacement for him is high on his list of requests, with Soumare currently topping the list of names.
Osimhen, 22, arrived from Charleroi last summer for just 12 million euros and with 10 goals already in Ligue 1 and two in the Champions League he’s grabbed the attention of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Liverpool.
And then there’s Gabriel. The 22-year-old defender struggled to settle in Europe and at Lille at first. He was loaned to Dinamo Zagreb and Troyes and only started to show himself this season, earning interest from Juventus.
