Sergio Ramos announced on Thursday that he will leave Real Madrid on June 30, but it happened under strange circumstances.
He wanted to stay at the club but wasn’t able to do so, because when he decided to accept the offer given to him it had already expired.
Ramos’ time at Real Madrid was therefore over and he must now look forward and decide where he will see out the rest of his career.
In Camas, Seville, where Ramos grew up and started his journey to becoming the player he is today, people can’t quite understand how it’s all ended like this.
In La Colina, where he spent his childhood, locals have spoken about his Real Madrid exit.
“I understand that the moment has come for him to leave Real Madrid,” said a Camas resident.
“I think it’s good that this time in career has ended, because he’s still got two or three years at the top level left in him.
“Here in Camas, we’re going to support him because we still have a lot of love for him.”
Others believe, however, that he should have managed the situation better.
“He’s made a big mistake,” one local said.
“He’s a Real Madrid and Sevilla man, but my friend Ramos has made a big mistake.
“He’s 35 and I think he should have retired at Real Madrid.”
