Ramos: “In Europe the referees are more lenient”

21 Aug 2017

Sent off in the last seconds of the match against Deportivo, Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos suggested that referees in LaLiga are took quick to brandish cards, and are not as lenient as officials across Europe.

It was a sour note to end on, after Los Blancos had completely dominated their hosts.

“I do not agree with the card but I respect the opinion of the referee,” Ramos said to reporters after the game.

“Sometimes officials should look at English football and let us play more.

“I like their system because in Europe, referees are more lenient.”

“I was cornered,” he continued.

“I hit Schar in the head but I didn’t intend to hurt him.”

Finally, Ramos noted how other teams don’t like it when Madrid keep winning.

“When you win many titles the rivals are full of antipathy towards you,” he concluded.
