Real Madrid are already working with the city of Madrid on plans to avoid gatherings of people should they win LaLiga Santander.
All possible scenarios are currently being considered, but Madrid mayor Jose Luis Martinez-Almeida has a particular eye on what might happen at the Plaza de Cibeles, where Real Madrid – fans and the club – celebrate successes.
“It’s to be celebrated, of course, because it’s an enormous achievement,” Martinez-Almeida said.
“But the celebration has to be carried out with the proper security conditions.”
Martinez-Almeida made reference to the recent scenes in Vitoria after Baskonia won the Liga Endesa on June 30.
“Just as it has been a special season, the celebration will also be special,” he said, turning attention back to Real Madrid, explaining that it’s “logical and reasonable” for large gatherings to be avoided.
The same rules for Atletico Madrid
Almeida, a known supporter of Atletico Madrid, joked that “exactly the same conditions will apply in the more than probable case of Atletico winning the Champions League“.
