Perez reportedly trying to extend Zidane’s contract until 2024

30 Apr 2021

Florentino Perez is trying to convince Zinedine Zidane to extend his current deal until 2024, El Confidencial report.

The Frenchman’s current contract runs out in 2022 and he’s been coy on his future, leaving the door open for a return to Juventus in the future.

However, Perez views Zizou as a key figure, reassuring stability at a financially challenging time of COVID and stadium renovations. Zidane is also playing a key part in persuading his compatriot Kylian Mbappe to join Real Madrid.

Zizou’s continuity might also persuade Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane to sign extensions: the latter seems to be one foot out of the door, while the former is reportedly ready to stay.

One of key promises Perez will make to Zizou, according to El Condifencial, is giving the Frenchman greater say in sporting matters like transfers and contract negotiations.
