Martin Odegaard had a medical check-up at Real Madrid‘s Valdebebas training complex on Friday.
The Norwegian has been recovering from a right knee injury that was very painful for him for the final weeks of the 2019/20 season, so Los Blancos‘ medical team wanted to see how he is progressing with the start of pre-season just around the corner.
Real Madrid‘s doctors have been monitoring the condition of Odegaard‘s knee for a long time, something they were also aware of while he was on loan at Real Sociedad.
Once the 21-year-old’s return to the Spanish capital was confirmed, they took over and the player turned up on Friday for a check-up.
Odegaard has already recovered from an injury he was battling with for all of last season, and which even caused him to consider undergoing surgery.
In fact, Imanol Alguacil had to play him in spurts in the final part of the campaign because the discomfort was preventing him from playing continuously.
However, Odegaard has spent all summer trying to strengthen the damaged knee so that he can hit the ground running when he joins up with Zinedine Zidane‘s squad for pre-season, with the Norwegian looking to earn his coach’s confidence and trust.
Given that Real Madrid are not looking to make signings this summer, Odegaard is the most important addition for Zidane after his great season at Real Sociedad.
