Nacho won’t be leaving Real Madrid this summer as the defender has considered his options and believes remaining at the Santiago Bernabeu to be the best of the bunch.
The Spaniard knows his standing at the club but feels that, despite being offered prominent roles elsewhere, he’s happy to remain and hope for opportunities at Los Blancos.
Aware that the season is long and with plenty of games to come, he is backing himself to play enough to stay happy at the club he has always dreamt of representing. Zinedine Zidane knows he can rely on him, and the defender has never let the Frenchman down.
Nobody needed to explain to the Spain international that his performances last season saw him slip down the pecking order somewhat, but he remains as demanding of himself as ever, and he’s desperate to prove his worth.
In recent months he renewed his deal at the Bernabeu until 2022, putting him on track to making it to ten years in the first team.
Madrid currently have three players in their history to have only played for them: Santiago Bernabeu (1911 – 1927), Chendo (1982 – 1988) and Sanchis (1983 – 2001).
It won’t be easy for Nacho to become the fourth, but he’s hoping to make his way onto the list.
