The speculation surrounding Kylian Mbappe’s future continues to escalate, as the young superstar’s Paris Saint-Germain contract expires in 2022 and appears in no mood to extend his deal with Real Madrid hot in pursuit of his services.
The man who sold Mbappe to PSG in 2017, Monaco president Vadim Vasilyev, gave his view of the situation, believing that the Frenchman is likelier to leave his current club rather than put pen to paper on a new contract.
“He is going to have to make very important decisions, which carry a lot of weight, and right now he seems to be headed towards the exit. Nothing is impossible. Kylian is young and what he wants to do is win titles,” he told Telefoot.
Nevertheless, Vasilyev doesn’t believe that all is hope is lost for PSG, explaining that if the club matches the player’s ambition then a mutual accord could be found.
“Kylian is ambitious. He wants to win everything, to break all records,” he said. “If tomorrow PSG can propose a truly ambitious project to him where he feels comfortable and with the chance to go further, giving him guarantees that he can win everything in his career, there is a chance of him extending,” Vasilyev said.
PSG is already working on the contract extension of Mbappe and Neymar, as sporting director Leonardo revealed on a live conference on Facebook, where he spoke along the same lines of Vasilyev, mentioning that the Ligue 1 champions want to make that final step to the Champions League trophy within five years.
