Mino Raiola: “This summer I want to bring a great player to Real Madrid”

Speculation about the future of the likes of Paul Pogba and Erling Haaland is going to take a notch after Mino Raiola made clear that he wants to bring a great player to Real Madrid in the summer.

The Dutch super-agent is a known representative of many elite stars, which hardly makes it a simple task to narrow down the list, but Pogba is undoubtedly the most marketable of his clients.

Zinedine Zidane was desperate to sign the French midfielder in the summer of 2019, but a deal with Manchester United was never going to be agreed at that time.

It’s unclear what the club’s position is on their 105 million euro midfielder, although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed that people can expect Pogba to remain with Manchester United for the 2020/21 season at least.

“I definitely want to take a great player to Real Madrid, and I will try to do so this summer,” Raiola admitted in an interview with MARCA.

“It would be a source of pride for me and my players because Real Madrid are a great club.

“My relationship with Los Blancos is very good. I am in contact with Jose Angel [Sanchez] and I love discussing football with him.”

Pogba‘s own campaign has been blighted by injuries, although the extended coronavirus-enforced break will likely see him represent the Reds in their next scheduled match.

“Paul is going through a tough time,” Raiola added.

“However, let’s be clear, because in England they are very sensitive, Pogba is only focusing on bringing a great end to the season with Manchester United.

“He wants to come back into the team and ensure that United can reach the Champions League.”

Manchester United retain a team-option to extend Pogba‘s deal for a further season until June 2022, although Raiola was hesitant to discuss the former Juventus star’s long-term plans.

“You can never say what will happen, today we just don’t know,” he confirmed.

“At this moment, the only things that matter are the club and the team.

“Then, after, we can see what is possible; there was great interest in him last year, but it wasn’t possible. We’ll see what happens.”

Then there is Haaland, who some believe could be the answer to Real Madrid‘s goalscoring woes.

However, Raiola is of the belief that he will continue to grow at Borussia Dortmund for a while longer.

“He’s a very important gem,” the agent said.

“It’s great to see him play and to see how he develops in every game.

“Nobody thought that his adaptation to the Bundesliga and the Champions League in a team like Borussia Dortmund would be like that. No one expected it.

“It’s not easy to go from Austria to Germany and show that level.

“He has a lot to improve yet. He’ll be at Dortmund for as long as he needs to be.

“It’s true that he is a footballer who is anticipating the stages of growth faster than you might think.

“I don’t think that when he left [Red Bull] Salzburg it was the right time, but… I don’t think he’ll be leaving Dortmund this summer.”

Haaland is surprising everyone, so much so that Paris Saint-Germain seemed to dedicate their Champions League triumph to him.

The Norwegian’s goals have grabbed him a lot of attention, yet MARCA can assure that Real Madrid have not made any approach for him.

It is true that Los Blancos have been tracking him and they have been watching his games in the last few weeks, but so far, they have not made any move, neither with the player’s agent nor with Dortmund.

There is a good relationship between Real Madrid and Dortmund, while Haaland has a 75 million euro release clause, so it would be up to Los Merengues to pay this figure if they want him in the future.
