Militao’s arrival solves Real Madrid’s first problem

14 Mar 2019

Real Madrid have had many issues during the 2018/19 season, one of which has been the defence.

Yet the signing of Eder Militao from Porto helps to solve their defensive problems.

The Brazilian will arrive in the summer and means that Los Blancos now have four center-backs they can rely on.

As well as the current starters Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane, they’ll have the 21-year-old and Nacho.

Jesus Vallejo has had constant injury issues and often hasn’t even been available, so he could be sold or loaned out.

Those in charge at Real Madrid believe their new addition will challenge Ramosand Varane for minutes in the starting XI, much like Pepe did a couple of seasons previously.

Furthermore, Militao can play at right-back if the circumstances call for it.

Given that they also have Dani Carvajal and Alvaro Odriozola, right-back is very much sorted.

Only the left-back position remains up in the air, but having Sergio Reguilon and Marcelo is certainly better than most teams could dream of.

There is hope that Zinedine Zidane will get Marcelo back to his best and that the Spaniard will continue to develop.

They’ll also have Theo Hernandez, who is currently out on loan at Real Sociedad.
