Wearing the pitch delegate bracelet, this is Carlos Megia Davila, who has taken over from the historic and beloved Agustin Herrerin, who has been at Real Madrid for 50 years.
Davila has been in and around the bench at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu for four matches in LaLiga, plus one more in the Champions League, but he is by no means a rookie at the club or in the world of football.
Since arriving in 2009, he has played the role of referee delegate.
The Real board has a distant relationship with the refereeing body, and sought an interlocutor.
With 14 years of experience as a first-team referee, Megia Davila was the perfect candidate and he has been in charge of clarifying any notion or modification of the rules, or ways of acting before the referees, to the players.
The Madrilenian takes charge every match day to help the referee team in everything they need.
In a season in which the club, after only seven match days in LaLiga, has already shown its displeasure with the refereeing body, the work of Megia in the future can be very important.
As for Agustin Herrerin, who has been pitch delegate for Real Madrid since 1999 and is on medical leave, he is well liked by all footballers and the club.
For the moment, his work will be performed by Megia Davila.
