McManaman: “I think Solari will continue until Pérez can sign Pochettino”

04 Nov 2018

Steve McManaman was not optimistic about Real Madrid’s chances of success this season when asked by BeIN Sports. The former Real Madrid winger spoke on Solari, what he’s like and who Florentino Perez wants in charge of the club.

“He’s a different character to Zidane, he doesn’t get involved in the politics of it all. If anything, he wants a quieter life so he will be less pragmatic as Zidane was at the time. I think they’ll go with him until they can see a way of getting Pochettino,” McManaman continued.

This forced the question to be asked whether the plot is to eventually bring in the Argentine.

“Only because, I can’t see them being successful this year,” he said. “And I think Solari would need success there. They look way behind others teams and they look way behind Barcelona in LaLiga. They don’t look like they are going to do anything in the Champions League so unless they do some incredible business in January and get an incredible amount of luck, I can’t see them being successful and if you’re not successful, they’ll change it around in the summer probably.”
