Marcelo sets sights on starting spot with help of personal trainer

30 Dec 2020

Adolfo Madrid has had to be versatile in the last few months whilst working with Real Madrid left-back Marcelo. The Brazilian defender has resorted to the services of Marcos Llorente‘s personal trainer and even decided not to take Zinedine Zidane‘s three-day Christmas break by travelling down to Sierra Nevada so that he could be close to his personal trainer in order to continue his training regime.

After missing out on a number of games, Marcelo realized that his fitness had taken a knock. He therefore got in touch with Adolfo Madrid, the personal trainer who has made a name for himself whilst working with Llorente for the past four years.

The method that he has taken up with Llorente has clearly been successful, despite the high standards the midfielder has set himself throughout his career. The professional relationship between Adolfo Madrid and Marcelo has only just started, but the defender believes that if he can stay motivated and improve his physical condition, he will once again claim his spot in Zidane‘s starting line-up.

Adolfo Madrid has included a diet plan and a complementary workout, which will be added to his normal Real Madrid training. Marcelo has been adding photos to his social media accounts and it must be said that the defender looks a lot leaner.

His worst spell since Capello

Marcelo hasn’t featured in any of the last seven games for Real Madrid and is one game away from his worst spell at the club, which came under Fabio Capello in the 2006/07 season, when Roberto Carlos was still playing.

Despite having fallen down the pecking order at Real Madrid, the relationship between Zidane and Marcelo has remained unchanged, as the defender still maintains that Zidane is the best coach he has played for.

Marcelo has only played six games out of a possible 21 this season, and four of his appearances have ended in defeats. The 32-year-old Brazilian hasn’t featured since November 28, and his spell out of the side has somewhat coincided with Los Blancos turning their fortunes around.

However, Marcelo hasn’t thrown in the towel just yet and hopes he will be able to convince Zidane to give him another chance.
