Marcelo is out against Granada

04 Oct 2019

Zinedine Zidane will not be able to call upon Marcelo against Granada as the Brazilian has suffered a relapse of the injury that had kept him out since the Levante match on September 14.

Marcelo came on in the Champions League game against Club Brugge on Tuesday, replacing the injured Nacho Fernandez at half-time, but he had to miss training on Friday as he had reaggravated the neck injury he suffered in the win over Levante.

The left-back’s knock was diagnosed as a “post-traumatic cervicodorsal” problem and it saw him miss the games against Paris Saint-GermainSevillaOsasuna and Atletico Madrid.

Given the injuries to Ferland Mendy and Nacho Fernandez, too, Zidane will have to invent a left-back for the match against Granada.
