Pictures of the new UEFA Champions League sleeve patches got leaked earlier, revealing a number of smaller updates to the existing designs.
The Champions League winners’ badge, reserved for teams who have won more than 5 titles, will be removed. Instead, the number of titles won will be added on top of the iconic ‘Starball’ badge. On top of that, the Respect logo will be replaced by the new UEFA Foundation badge.
The fact that Winners patch was moved from the left sleeve to within the Starball logo on the right indicates that we could see sleeve sponsors in the Champions League next year. Since the Premier League allowed sleeve sponsors a few years ago, most major teams in Europe have such deals in place and it would open additional revenue opportunity for those participating in the continent’s biggest club competition.
