Real Madrid seem to have found the perfect goalkeeping alternative in Karlo Letica, the goalkeeper for Croatia’s U21 team.
In the last two and a half months of competition at his club Hajduk Split, the 21-year-old has been astonishing the world of football with his amazing performances, attracting serious interest from Los Blancos.
The Spanish side have already contacted both the agent of the player and the club, signalling their intent in signing the keeper that many consider to be the new Jan Oblak because of his height (2.02m) and his technical ability.
With Letica, Real believe they have found the perfect complement for Keylor Navas, as they consider that both goalkeepers could share Madrid’s goalkeeping duties without any major problems.
That would ensure the Costa Rican international stays at the club, with the Croatian being the future custodian for Los Blancos.
Letica’s signing fits perfectly into the club’s policy of introducing young talent into the squad, and if a deal is completed, he would be added to the list of players Real have brought through in recent years.
Players such as Casemiro, Mateo Kovacic and Marco Asensio, to name just a few.
After Zinedine Zidane declared that his team doesn’t need any new faces, Madrid dropped their deal with Kepa Arrizabalaga.
However, the debate regarding the goalkeeping position continues to be talked about at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
The option of bringing in a new talent such as Manchester United’s David De Gea or Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois would be an expense of close to 100 million euros.
Despite the high price tags, both options were on the table, but since Letica’s amazing campaign at Hajduk, Madrid seem to have dropped their interest to focus ion bringing the Croatian to the Spanish capital.
Allowing the continuity of Los Blancos’ current goalkeeper has been very well received by the heavyweights of the squad, such as Sergio Ramos and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Zidane is also very happy with Navas’ performances and wants him at Real Madrid for as long as he is the coach.
