Juancho Hernangomez reportedly the main target for Real Madrid this summer

11 Jan 2022

Real Madrid is planning for the future with a renewal strategy in mind. It was reported a few days ago that the Spanish club intends to re-sign forward Gabriel Deck after the Oklahoma City Thunder waived him.

Real’s next big target, according to El Mundo’s Lucas Sáez-Bravo, is to bring Juancho Hernangomez back to Europe this summer, with Guerschon Yabusele also committed long-term.

Following a difficult season with Minnesota Timberwolves in 2020-21, Hernangomez, 26, was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies, and in August, he was traded to the Boston Celtics in exchange for Kris Dunn, Carsen Edwards, and a 2026 second-round pick swap.

He has played a limited role in the Celtics’ rotation so far this season, averaging 1.1 points, 1.4 rebounds per 5.6 minutes in 18 games, a career low. Hernangomez’s non-guaranteed contract, worth around $7.5 million, has one more season left on it.
