Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta has spoken in glowing terms about Real Madrid youngster Takefusa Kubo.
The Japanese teenager joined Los Blancos in June and has already caught the eye with his displays in training as well as his impressive performance against Bayern Munich in the International Champions Cup.
Kubo joined Barcelona academy in 2011 but had to leave the club in 2015 due to their violation of FIFA’s international transfer policy for player’s under the age of 18.
“I know Kubo because I played against him last season,” said Iniesta, who plies his trade with Vissel Kobe in Japan.
“He is an impressive talent and has a great future ahead of him. He is a young player who is gifted enough to earn a spot at one of the biggest clubs in the world.
“Only time will tell,” Iniesta responded, when asked if Barcelona would end up regretting missing out on the 18-year-old.
“I suppose the club just did not want him or maybe just things went the wrong way, but Barcelona is more important than any player,” he concluded.
