Exactly a month after he fell injured, Eden Hazard is still awaiting medical discharge.
He’s making progress from the knock to his right ankle, but slowly, meaning he’ll be out of the Supercopa de Espana, which kicks off on January 8.
When the extent of his injury was made public on December 5 the target of the Supercopa was set for his return, but now the target is for late January or even February.
The message around the club is clear: no risk is to be taken with Hazard.
He himself is hasty to play in the Supercopa, but the competition isn’t a priority for Madrid and they’re focused on having him fit for LaLiga Santander and the knockout stages of the Champions League.
Just 12 days remain until the team get on the plane for Jeddah, and the Belgian is yet to set foot on the pitch again, now just working in the gym.
