An injury to the anterior part of Eden Hazard‘s right thigh the day before Real Madrid‘s first LaLiga Santander game of the season means that the Belgian is yet to make his debut for his new club, yet there is a chance that he could do so on Sunday night against Villarreal.
The summer signing is pushing to return for that fixture at the Estadio de la Ceramica, just two weeks after suffering the injury.
Real Madrid are remaining patient and will see how he evolves over the course of this week.
The Belgian national team, meanwhile, are optimistic about having the forward for their upcoming fixtures against San Marino and Scotland on September 6 and September 9.
“I feel positive about him because he always wants to play,” Roberto Martinez told Nieuwsblad.
“He generally recovers from injuries quickly and well.
“If he plays against Villarreal then we could count on him.”
Martinez is expected to announce his Belgium squad for their upcoming fixtures on Friday.
