Spanish outlet El Confidencial have just shocked the Real Madrid fan base with Florentino Perez’s revelations from 2006, pinning an audio of his chat with the newspaper.
“Raul and Casillas are the two great scams of Madrid,” Perez, who already resigned as the Whites’ president to that date, said back then.
“Casillas is not even a goalkeeper of Real Madrid. He has been a great failure for the club and he’s somehow being adored… He’s one of the greatest scams and the second one is Raul. He’s a bad person and people believe that Madrid is his club.
“The players are very selfish, one can’t count on them at all. Whoever does it is wrong because they [the players] lay you on the ground, it’s silly. I have only bad impressions about these players.”
Florentino adds that Raul was ‘destroying’ Real Madrid and was one of the reasons behind his resignation. Perez also calls Ronaldo Nazario ‘a mug’ in that interview.
The newspaper also mentions the president’s positive attitude towards Zinedine Zidane and David Beckham – basically the only two players he adored back then.
