Falcao offers himself to Real Madrid

18 Nov 2018

While Real Madrid have never been fond of the winter transfer market, there are options to strengthen the squad this January and the latest name to appear as an option is that of Radamel Falcao.

The Colombian is currently at Monaco, a club going through a very difficult season.

Just two years ago they reached the semi-finals of the Champions League, but they’re now in the relegation zone of Ligue 1, even after the arrival of Thierry Henry as coach.

Falcao is looking for a way out and has offered his services to Real Madrid in the past few days.

This option is currently being studied, but there isn’t any urgency since other alternatives are being looked at too.

There are some directors who believe the attacking positions should be strengthened, but there is also a desire to stick with the plan of signing young talents.

With Falcao almost 33 years of age, he certainly wouldn’t meet that criterion.

Falcao signed a new deal with Monaco in the summer of 2017 and has another year and a half left on his current contract, but his representative Jorge Mendes knows that his players need to be at clubs free from economic and sporting problems.

Even if the agent has been well connected to Monaco in the past, the situation is severe and the latest drama has been the recent arrest of Dmitry Rybolovlev for alleged corruption.

For Monaco, there is a need to rid themselves of high salaries like Falcao‘s and one option if Real Madrid do proceed with a pursuit of the former Atletico Madrid striker would be a loan until the end of the season.
