As Real Madrid continue to pursue Kylian Mbappe in the hope of doing a deal before the transfer deadline, a video has emerged showing the late Diego Maradona asking Florentino Perez to sign the French superstar.
Los Blancos’ interest in Mbappe extends far beyond the current level of negotiations, with Mbappe having been a target for the Spanish club for years.
In the video that has emerged on social media platforms, Maradona is seen praising Mbappe’s talents and making clear that he had a meeting with Florentino Perez in which he informed the president he must sign the former Monaco prodigy.
“I told Florentino ‘sign Mbappe’,” Maradona tells a reporter in the video.
“I told him when we met each other at a FIFA event.”
