Eden Hazard’s latest problem

16 Nov 2021

Having returned to Real Madrid’s first team following several injury problems, Eden Hazard is now finding it impossible to rediscover his form.

So far for Belgium during this current international break, Hazard has earnt himself 63 minutes of game time from a possible 180.

Meanwhile, for Real Madrid, Hazard hasn’t started a football game since September 28 against Sheriff Tiraspol in the Champions League. Since that day, the 30-year-old has only played 51 minutes of club football in his last seven games.

Despite Hazard’s time in the Spanish capital having been characterized by a whole host of injuries, those problems haven’t been as much of an issue this season. Instead, he just cannot seem to find the form he used to be in before his injury troubles, particularly when you look back at his Chelsea performances.

This season, across all competitions, Hazard has featured in a mere 29 percent of Real Madrid’s minutes.

For Belgium, on the other hand, Hazard has played 50 percent of their minutes this season, having been on the pitch for a combined 314 minutes of a possible 630.

Carlo Ancelotti is still determined to get the best out of Hazard, who has struggled to carve out a place in the starting line-up due to the impressive form and rise of Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes.

Hazard appears to be living in the era of Karim Benzema and Vinicius, who run the offensive show at Real Madrid these days.

Hazard’s brother, Thorgan, is aware of the situation and pleaded for Real Madrid to give Eden more game time.

“It is difficult because he doesn’t play enough minutes to show his worth,” said Thorgan.
