The work of new fitness coach Gregory Dupont is beginning to bear fruit at Real Madrid.
The French replaced Antonio Pintus as the club’s fitness coach in July and the squad are grateful for his methods.
However, there have been times where it’s been tough. Runs are frequent and Dupont has reintroduced the ramp at Valdebebas.
Just a few days ago, Vinicius Junior asked Dupont if he could stop doing a series of runs after the match against Getafe.
Pintus and Oscar Caro worked together under Julen Lopetegui last season and continued with Santiago Solari in charge.
Pintus stayed on after Zidane took over in March 2019 before the Real Madrid boss signed Dupont, the fitness coach of the French national team, who are currently world champions.
“He likes to make us run,” they say about Dupont in the dugout.
The likes of Raphael Varane, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Isco are all back to peak fitness and able to perform to their best thanks to this.
Fede Valverde has broken through thanks to his impressive stamina and Eden Hazard was flying before he suffered an injury from Thomas Meunier.
Real Madrid‘s fitness was there for all to see at Getafe as Valverde and Modric raced clear in second-half stoppage time to score the third goal.
