According to Spanish news outlet Cuatro, Sergio Ramos played a role in convincing his Real Madrid teammates to accept pay cuts to alleviate the financial burden on the club amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Los Blancos players have already taken a pay cut and are expected to go through another one soon.
Meanwhile, there is concern over Ramos’ future. His contract will expire next year and he’s yet to sign an extension.
However, Cuatro understands that if he signs a fresh deal, the 34-year-old will accept reduced wages to ease the pressure on the Whites’ dwindling finances.
Ramos’ attitude is remarkable and this is simply another reason why Real Madrid should give him an extension for two more years instead of one.
