Cristiano Ronaldo would leave Juventus if Real Madrid called

25 Mar 2021

With 30 goals in 34 appearances this season, it’s clear that Cristiano Ronaldo is still a goalscoring machine with Juventus.

Last season he scored 37 in 46 games, and in 2018/19 he bagged 28 in 43, meaning that Real Madrid have had to go without 95 goals since his 2018 departure.

Cristiano’s goals

Karim Benzema has stepped up in his absence, but the Portuguese’s shadow hasn’t stopped handing over Los Blancos.

“I wouldn’t have let him go because he’s one of the best players in the world and he would have brought us closer to winning,” Sergio Ramos said of his former teammate recently.

“Cris lost, and Real Madrid lost. He’s a decisive player who helped us to win.”

Zinedine Zidane went further, suggesting that the player could well be on his way back this summer.

“His return could happen,” Zidane said simply.

The first step towards seeing them reunited would be for the player to decide to leave Juventus. He understands that his Italian adventure has come to an end.

He left Madrid for Turin with the understanding that he would be the center of a project aimed at winning the Champions League, in an attempt to make Juventus the European force that Real Madrid had been.

But things haven’t gone that way, and he has only made it as far as the quarter-finals once. Due to those struggles, he’s ready to leave Juventus.

With Cristiano ready to leave and hoping to return to the Spanish capital, Los Blancos will have to analyze whether or not the deal can happen. Both sides know that neither has been the same since they parted ways in 2018.

A project in crisis

Juventus have been on the decline of late, and their decision to gamble with Andrea Pirlo didn’t convince the No.7 at the time. And time has proven him right, as things haven’t gone well for the former midfielder.

Juventus have 11 games left in Serie A, and the title looks beyond their reach already. On top of that, they’ve already been knocked out of the Champions League, although they’ll back themselves to win the Coppa Italia against Atalanta.
