With 22 goals in his last 13 Champions League matches, Cristiano Ronaldo has proven himself as Real Madrid’s most decisive player.
The Portuguese has scored in each one of his team’s eight continental games this season, matching Ruud van Nistelrooy’s achievement of scoring in nine consecutive matches.
He has found the net five times against Bayern Munich, three times against Atletico Madrid, twice against Juventus in the final, twice against Tottenham, twice against Borussia Dortmund and most recently netting three in the last 16 tie vs Paris Saint-Germain.
In his first seasons in Los Blancos colours he was accused of disappearing during the important games, but his critics have been silenced after four more Ballon d’Or awards.
During his last couple of years, the 33-year-old has come to understand that he won’t be able to make the same number of appearances as he had done in previous campaigns.
As a result, he has been saving his best version for crucial games, especially the Champions League ones, being the top scorer in the history of the competition, as well as the top scorer in the last five editions of the tournament.
