CR7 hit the overhead kick from the height of the crossbar

06 Apr 2018

Anyone still wondering why the world is fawning over Cristiano Ronaldo’s incredible strike against Juventus need only realise that his foot connected with the ball at a massive 2 metres, 38 centimetres in the air.

Achieving such clean contact on the ball at that height, only six centimetres below that of the crossbar, is a stunning acrobatic act.

Furthermore, measurements show that Ronaldo’s back was lifted 1.41 metres of the ground at its highest point, almost perfectly parallel with the turf as he scored one of the Champions League’s most memorable goals.
