Courtois: “I knew where Thomas was going to aim his penalty and I made a good save”

Thibaut Courtois made a vital stop against Thomas Partey during Real Madrid‘s penalty shootout victory over Atletico Madrid.

The goalkeeper explained that he was prepared for the penalty and that he knew where the Ghanaian would aim.

“I studied them on the bench,” he said when asked if he’d prepared ahead of the shootout.

Saul surprised me a little, but I knew Thomas‘ one clearly and I think I made a good save because he hit it hard.

“I’m very happy because it was another clean sheet and I made good saves.

“We had a good feeling coming into this tournament and now we return with an even better feeling.

“Now we face Sevilla, another tough opponent.”

Courtois was asked if he thinks he’s the best goalkeeper in the world.

“I don’t have to have an opinion on that,” he said.

“I think I’m one of the best and I work hard to be up there.”
