Celades joins Real Madrid as Lopetegui’s assistant coach

Albert Celades joins Real Madrid as Julen Lopetegui’s assistant coach. His coaching career is linked to the Spanish youth teams, where he held the position of Under-21s coach from 2014 to 2018. With this age group he was runner-up in Euro 2017. He previously led the Under-16s team. He was also at the World Cups in Brazil and Russia as an assistant coach for the Spanish national team.

As a player he had a remarkable career and was at Real Madrid for four seasons (from 2000 to 2003 and in 2004/05). He played 101 games for the Whites and was part of the squad that won the ninth European Cup. As a Real Madrid player, he also won an Intercontinental Cup, a European Super Cup, two league titles and a Spanish Super Cup.
