Carvajal ruled out indefinitely

Real Madrid have announced that Dani Carvajal is suffering from a viral problem that is affecting his pericardium, and not only will it prevent him from playing against Espanyol but it also rules him out indefinitely.

It is a disease that requires time for a total recovery and in principle, it could be at least a month and a half before he returns.

To this point the right-back had played all the official minutes available this season, so this will be the first matchday in which he hasn’t participated.

With Theo and Marcelo also injured, there is a real problem for the Los Blancos defence.

Nacho could potentially occupy the left-hand side with Carvajal’s departure opening the doors to Achraf Hakimi.
