Real Madrid now know when their first home game of the new season will be as they will host Celta Vigo on September 11, after playing away from the Spanish capital for the first three matchdays of the season.
It has been reported that the turf at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu will be installed on September 7 and September 8, so long as there are no setbacks until then.
The the club’s groundsmen will then work over the subsequent days to have the pitch in optimal condition for the match on September 12.
A lot of other work will need to take place to ensure the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu is ready to welcome fans, following a year and a half of construction work at the venue.
The project won’t be completed by September 11 and this was never the intention. But, the stadium will be prepared so that football can take place there, while other redevelopment work carries on in the background.
