Karim Benzema‘s goalscoring statistics keep getting better for Real Madrid. The French striker, who netted 30 goals in all competitions last season, already has 11 in this campaign and is top scorer in LaLiga Santander.
His double against Eibar on Saturday saw him move past Ferenc Puskas on 156 goals in the all-time scoring charts for Los Blancos. The next objective is Hugo Sanchez‘s total of 164 for the club.
Another double earlier in the week against Galatasaray saw him overtake Alfredo di Stefano in Real Madrid goals in the European Cup.
Benzema has taken on the scoring mantra from Cristiano Ronaldo since his departure to Juventus and is actually producing better numbers than his former teammate.
He’s netted 41 goals since the start of last season, while Ronaldo has only scored 34 for Juventus in the same amount of time.
Real Madrid‘s dependence on Benzema is enormous. He’s scored in seven of their 11 matches in LaLiga Santander this season.
In the games he didn’t score in, Real Madrid lost to Real Mallorca and drew with Real Betis, Atletico Madrid and Villarreal – Los Blancos failed to score in three of those four matches.
